This teacher's manual presents a curriculum and classroom activities designed to educate adolescents about how to recognize crime and prevent crime through individual and community strategies.
Abstract
The curriculum is part of a locally implemented nationwide effort to reduce the incidence of adolescent victimization by crime and to engage adolescents as crime prevention resources in their schools and communities. Its 11 chapters focus on crime, crime prevention, victimization, and juvenile issues. Each chapter is designed to be a self-contained unit. It includes objectives, words to know, an activity based on the students' own experiences, substantive information on the topic, an activity that uses students' critical thinking and problem solving skills, activities to link crime prevention knowledge with community action, and a summary and review. Teaching suggestions, answers to discussion questions, background information, suggestions for involvement of community resources, reproducible materials for classroom activities
