This module prepared by the Canada Corrections Service addresses the function of temporary absences in terms of case management and conditional release by identifying procedures for authorizing, granting, and processing temporary absences.
Abstract
The module is based on four objectives for participants: to understand the process and conditions of granting both escorted and unescorted temporary absences; as to understand the procedural requirements; to understand the role of the National Parole Board in authorizing temporary absences; and to understand administrative and decisionmaking responsibilities. The module is comprised of an introduction, overview of the process, discussion of temporary absence procedures, and summary and wrap-up.
