Abstract
The Tennessee Department of Corrections records a year of continued growth and improvement during 1991-1992. Three new institutions opened, and the Tennessee State Penitentiary and DeBerry Correctional Institute closed. Expansions were approved for three facilities. A greatly expanded management information system was implemented in the department. The budget section operated under restricted hiring and purchasing procedures. Strict expenditure controls were imposed throughout the state due to undercollection of tax revenues.
