This report presents information on reported incidents of assaults or deaths of law enforcement officer that occurred in Tennessee for 2006.
Abstract
Report highlights include: (1) a total of 248 Tennessee agencies reported Law Enforcement Officers Killed or Assaulted (LEOKA) for 2006; (2) the number of reported LEOKA incidents decreased 9.5 percent from 2005, there were 2,316 reported LEOKA incidents in 2006 compared to 2,537 reported in 2005; (3) the majority of LEOKA incidents were reported occurring between 6:00 pm to 12:00 am at 42.3 percent; (4) a total of 2,092 LEOKA incidents were cleared, 88.5 percent were cleared by arrest; (5) the most frequently reported age range for LEOKA offenders was 18-24 at 27.2 percent followed by 25-34 at 26.2 percent; and (6) the most frequently reported LEOKA offenders were male, 78.1 percent. This 2006 annual report, produced by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation presents comprehensive statistical information on reported incidents of incidents of assaults and deaths of law enforcement officers.
