The report initially provides an overview of OJJDP, a historical perspective of OJJDP's major program emphases since its establishment, and a summary of OJJDP's fiscal 1986 program plan. Information in the National Institute of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention's annual report for fiscal 1986 is summarized, and recommendations by the OJJDP Administrator focus on the management and coordination of Federal efforts in juvenile justice and delinquency prevention. A description of the fiscal 1986 activities of the Coordinating Council on Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention focuses on recommendations that address delinquency prevention, school crime and safety, serious juvenile crime, missing and exploited children, and alcohol and drug abuse prevention. Council recommendations for fiscal 1987 and information on a computerized data base of Federal juvenile justice and delinquency prevention programs are also included. Other overviews encompass the activities of the Advisory Board on Missing Children and the Interagency Panel on Research and Development on Children and Adolescents. An inventory covers 128 programs administered by 11 Federal agencies and departments that sponsor program related to juvenile delinquency prevention. The report concludes with summaries of 25 programs related to the 5 priority areas established by the Coordinating Council.
