Abstract
This reference publication is essentially a terminology reference list. A sample list of some terms follows. "AFMGQT," Air Force Modified General Question Test, is a PDD (psycho-physiological detection of deception) format used primarily within the U.S. Government with flexible orderings and numbers of relevant questions. It can be used in single-issue, multiple-faceted, and multiple-issue PDD examinations. It uses relevant, probable-lie, sacrifice relevant, and irrelevant questions. Symptomatic questions are not used. "Kircher features" relates to an ensemble of measurable physiological features found in traditional polygraph recordings that correlate highest with deception, such as, respiration line length, electrodermal response amplitude, blood volume amplitude, and finger pulse amplitude. "Pinocchio response" is defined as a nonexistent lie-specific physio-logical response. The expression derides the idea that the act of deception produces stereotypical physiological response patterns. "Zone" is a concept of 20- to 35-seconds block of polygraph chart time initiated by a question having a unique psychological focusing appeal to a predictable group of examinees. "ZCT," or Zone Comparison Technique, is described as a PDD technique containing three zones, black, red, and green, with comparison of responses between two of the zones for a determination of truth or deception. It is the most often used technique in forensic applications than any other format. A list of Web sites providing free information on polygraphy is included.
