EXAMINES THE ARAB-ISRAELI CONFLICT IN TERMS OF THREE CONCEPTS: A WAR OF LIBERATION, RIGHT TO SELF-DETERMINATION, AND BELLUM JUSTUM (JUST WAR).
Abstract
THE AUTHOR LOOKS AT THIS CONFLICT AS ONE BASED ON SELF-DETERMINATION BUT THIS SELF-DETERMINATION IS OFTEN RESISTED AS AN INTEGRAL PART OF POSITIVE INTERNATIONAL LAW. COMMENTS ARE THEN MADE ON THE DOCTRINE OF JUST WAR, FOLLOWED BY AN HISTORICAL RECOUNT OF THE ARAB-ISRAELI CONFLICT AND THE USE OF TERRORIST TACTICS ON BOTH SIDES.
