Compiled by the American Jewish Congress, this report summarizes legislation considered by the U.S. Congress in response to terrorist incidents from 1972 (the 92nd Congress) through 1987 (the 100th Congress).
Abstract
Counterterrorist legislation was introduced in every Congress during this period except the 93rd. The legislative survey briefly describes the terrorist activity that prompted a congressional response, all legislation introduced, and whether a bill was enacted into law. Measures addressed by bills include suspending aid to nations that support terrorism, strict controls on exports of nuclear fuels and technology, extra appropriations for intelligence gathering, security improvements at U.S. embassies, and the expansion of criminal laws to cover terrorist acts abroad.
