This reference text provides profiles of major terrorist groups and organizations in the Middle East, Western Europe, Latin America, Asia, and Africa.
Abstract
Each section includes an overview of organizational, insurgent and/or State-sponsored terrorist group activities, ideologies, and issues. Information on individual terrorist groups includes date formed, estimated membership, headquarters, area of operation, additional names used, leadership, sponsors, political objectives and target audiences, and background. Also for each group, a selected incident chronology is provided and illustrated with photographs. Among groups profiled are the Abu Nidal Organization, the Palestinian Liberation Front, the Irish National Liberation Army, the Red Army Faction, and Red Brigade, the Shining Path, the National Liberation Army, the Chukaku Ha, the Japanese Red Army, Sikh terrorism, and the African National Congress.
