Abstract
OBJECTIVES OF THE STANDARDS INCLUDE THE ESTABLISHMENT OF COMMUNITY BASED ALTERNATIVE PROGRAMS, UNIFORM PROBATION ADMINISTRATION STANDARDS, A STATEWIDE STATISTICAL INFORMATION SERVICE, A SERVICE CENTER, AND AN ONGOING STUDY OF PROBATION METHODS. OTHER OBJECTIVES INCLUDE MAKING PROBATION EFFECTIVE, ENCOURAGING COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT AND INSERVICE TRAINING, AND IMPROVING THE SELF-IMAGE OF PROBATION PERSONNEL. ADMINISTRATION STANDARDS COVER PUBLIC PROTECTION, COMMUNITY EDUCATION, PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCE, ADMINISTRATIVE MANUAL, JOB DESCRIPTION, ENTRY LEVEL SALARY, AUTOMOBILE AND PER DIEM ALLOWANCES, RECORDS, BUDGET, AUDITS, ANNUAL REPORT, ETHICS, EXTRADITION, PROBATIONER TRANSFER, PRESENTENCE CAPABILITY, AND EQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY. PROBATION OFFICER RULES COVER ELIGIBILITY, TRAINING, PROFESSIONAL MEMBERSHIP IN APPROPRIATE ORGANIZATIONS, AND CONFERENCES.
