MATHEMATICAL ANALYSIS DEMONSTRATING THE FEASIBILITY OF APPLYING THE CONCEPTS OF OPERATIONS RESEARCH TO LAW ENFORCEMENT PROBLEMS.
Abstract
IN DISCUSSING HIS THEORETICAL APPROACH TO THE SUPPRESSION OF CRIME BY PATROL FORCE, THE AUTHOR PRESENTS A CHARACTERIZATION OF THE PROBLEM INCORPORATING THE DEFINITION OF THE GOAL, OPTIMUM LEVEL CRIME PREVENTION, AND THE CONCEPT OF DISUTILITY (NEGATIVE EFFECTS TO THE COMMUNITY). THE AUTHOR PRESENTS A SUGGESTED MATHEMATICAL SOLUTION FOR DETERMINING THE ALLOCATION OF PREVENTIVE PATROL HOURS BY TIME AND GEOGRAPHICAL AREA.
