This bilingual Canadian thesaurus allows access to juvenile delinquency research information through descriptors in the French and English languages.
Abstract
As an interdisciplinary theraurus, the volume includes descriptors from the fields of criminal justice, psychology, psychiatry, social studies, and education. The basic terminology system of French descriptors defines terms through hierarchial structures (broad and narrow terms), ideas (related terms), synonymous/nearly synonymous terms (postable and non-postable terms). Within this French framework, English descriptors appear as non-postable terms which refer the user to the appropriate postable French descriptors. The substantive descriptors are supplemented by geographical and organizational descriptors as well as a list of proper names. In order to facilitate the access via English descriptors, an alphabetical index of English terms with their corresponding French descriptors is appended. A permuted French index is also included.--in English and French.
