DISCUSSION OF RECENT ACTIVITIES OF VARIOUS REVOLUTIONARY GROUPS AND INDICATIONS THAT THESE ACTIVITIES WILL INCREASE IN TEMPO AND INTENSITY DURING 1976.
Abstract
THERE HAVE BEEN AN INCREASING NUMBER OF THEFTS OF WEAPONS FROM MILITARY ARMORIES AND DYNAMITE FROM CONSTRUCTION SITES. A TOP U.S. INTELLIGENCE OFFICER SAYS THAT TERRORISTS ARE STRONGLY DRAWN TO HISTORICAL DATES AND PARALLELS. THE WEATHER UNDERGROUND, A REVOLUTIONARY GROUP FORMERLY KNOWN AS THE WEATHERMEN, IS FEATURED IN THE ARTICLE. IT IS POINTED OUT THAT IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO APPREHEND GROUP MEMBERS BECAUSE IT IS SO SIMPLE FOR THEM TO OBTAIN SETS OF FALSE IDENTIFICATION. LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICIALS ARE NOW TRYING TO PLAY IT COOL REGARDING TERRORIST GROUPS IN ORDER TO AVOID GALVANIZING POPULAR SUPPORT FOR THE RADICALS.
