Abstract
THIS HANDBOOK ALLOWS THE NONEXPERT TO IDENTIFY THE MOST COMMONLY ABUSED DRUGS QUICKLY AND EFFECTIVELY. PRESECRIPTION DRUGS AND 'COUNTERFEIT' DRUGS ARE INCLUDED. THE PILLS AND CAPSULES SHOWN IN THE BOOKLET ARE ACTUAL SIZE. THESE ARE ACTUAL COLOR PHOTOGRAPHS, BUT THE VIEWER SHOULD ALLOW FOR SLIGHT COLOR VARIATION WHEN COMPARING. DRUGS ARE CLASSIFIED INTO FIVE DIFFERENT SCHEDULES, DEPENDING ON THEIR POTENTIAL FOR ADDICTION. THE FINDINGS REQUIRED FOR A DRUG TO BE CLASSIFIED IN EACH OF THE SCHEDULES ARE LISTED. EACH ILLUSTRATION IS IDENTIFIED BY CONTENT AND TRADE NAME WHEN APPLICABLE. IF THE TABLET IS CLASSIFIED BY SCHEDULE, THE NOTATION (I,II,III, IV, OR V) WILL APPEAR IN THE UPPER LEFT HAND CORNER OF THE ILLUSTRATION. IT IS NOTED THAT MANY OF THE MOST COMMONLY ABUSED DRUGS ARE NONDESCRIPT AND EXTREMELY HARD TO IDENTIFY VISUALLY. THUS, THIS HANDBOOK CANNOT REPLACE DRUG ANALYSIS BY A COMPETENT CHEMIST. A GLOSSARY OF TERMS, MEASURES OF WEIGHT, SUPPLEMENTARY DESCRIPTIONS, AND AN INDEX ARE INCLUDED. (AUTHOR MODIFIED ABSTRACT--PRG)
