Abstract
THE SIX TECHNIQUES IN QUESTION ARE DISCUSSING ALTERNATIVE COURSES OF ACTION OPEN TO THE YOUTH, BECOMING OPENLY UPSET WITH HIM STUCTURING THE CONVERSATION TO ENCOURAGE THE YOUTH TO TALK, RELATING TO HIM EXPERIENCES OF OTHERS, FOLLOWING UP PREVIOUS DISCUSSIONS, AND REINFORCING HIS OWN EFFORTS. DATA WAS COLLECTED FROM QUESTIONNAIRES DISTRIBUTED TO 67 STAFF MEMBERS OF A JUVENILE COURT IN AN INDUSTRALIZED MIDWESTERN COUNTY.
