This annual report describes the mission, structure, function, and scope of the Santa Clara County (California) Probation Department.
Abstract
The department aims to hold offenders responsible for their crimes through personal accountability and restitution, assess an individual's potential risk to the community, support crime prevention programs, provide programs to clients to assist in their reintegration, provide support to the courts, utilize custodial care when necessary, advocate the rights of victims, and provide avenues for public involvement in the department's overall mission. Under the Juvenile Probation Division are included functions of the Juvenile Probation Services: youth outreach/diversion, delinquent screening, delinquent investigation and supervision, and juvenile traffic court. Juvenile Institutional Services encompass juvenile hall, juvenile work program, and juvenile rehabilitation facilities. Adult Probation Services include the investigation services unit, supervision services unit, men's work furlough center, and adult screening. Administrative, clerical, and food services are handled by the Department's Support Services.
