This report presents statistics regarding time served on prison sentences for parolees, felon new admissions, and parole violators returned to prison for a new term in California in 1991.
Abstract
During the year, 49,204 felon inmates were paroled for the first time from a California prison. They had served an average of 21 months in prison and custody, with a median time served of 15.8 months. The average time served was 33.1 months for violent offenses, 18.3 months for property offenses, 18.6 months for drug law offenses, and 13.9 months for all other offenses. During the year, 35,627 felon new admissions were paroled for the first time, after serving an average time in custody and institutions of 21.6 months. A total of 13,577 parole violators who were returned for a new term were paroled for the first time following their return. Their total average time served was 19.5 months, with a median of 14.1 months. Figures and tables
