Author(s)
R. W. Rivers
Date Published

Length
135 pages
Annotation
This book presents a summary of formulas and tables commonly required and used in traffic accident investigation and reconstruction.
Abstract
The manual also presents alternative problem solving formulas to accommodate various known data to provide a means of checking the accuracy of one answer against others. The instruction advisors investigators to decide on the problem to be addressed, and the information available, and then to use the appropriate chapter in the manual. They should also consider the laws, ordinances, and organizational policies and procedures of their own jurisdiction and use them when they differ from the book's contents. Individual chapters present formulas and tables related to acceleration; the center of mass; the drag factor and coefficient of friction; yaw, sideslip, or critical curve speed; fall, flip, and vault speeds. Other chapters focus on kinetic energy and speed; weight shift and speed; tip and rollover speed; hydroplaning speed; velocity, speed, acceleration, distance, and time; momentum speed analysis; combined speeds; distance; time; and miscellaneous formulas. Figures; tables; index; appended conversion tables for English and metric measurement systems, English conversion tables, metric conversion tables, mathematical tables, and speedometer accuracy checklist; and 15 references
