This report from the U.S. Department of State presents information on trafficking in persons for the year 2013.
Abstract
This report, compiled by the U.S. Department of State with assistance from 188 countries and territories, contains information on trafficking in persons and how the United States and countries around the world are responding to the problem. The report is available online from the U.S. Department of State in either PDF or HTML format. The introductory section of the report contains information on victim identification, identifies risk factors for victimization, and examines effective victim identification in practice. The introduction also contains definitions about the different forms of human trafficking and the methodology used by the Department of State in preparing this report. The final section contains definitions on the tiers, the classification for how countries comply with the Trafficking Victims Protection Act's minimum standards. A country list contains each country's tier classification, while regional maps contain information on the countries in that region, their tier classification, and the region's overall record on prosecutions, convictions, victims identified, and new or amended legislation. Additional sections of the report include detailed narratives for each country covered in the report, a listing of relevant international conventions, the Trafficking Victims Protection Act: Minimum Standards for the Elimination of Trafficking in Persons, and responses to the problem of human trafficking by international organizations.
