This service plan describes training programs and technical assistance available to juvenile corrections professionals, through the National Institute of Corrections from June 1, 2002, to May 31, 2003.
Abstract
This service plan, available through an interagency agreement between the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) and the National Institute of Corrections (NIC), describes training programs and available technical assistance to juvenile corrections, detention, probation, and parole professionals. Describing services available to corrections professionals from June 1, 2002, to May 31, 2003, the training programs and services discussed in this service plan are based on continuous training needs assessments. Broken up into various sections, this service plan first details various training programs, who should attend, and how to apply. Correctional professional training programs include: Leadership and Management, Helping Agencies Build Capacity for Training, Juvenile Offender Management, and Facility Management. Next, sections on information services and technical assistance describe the varied ways that juvenile and adult corrections information may be obtained from the NIC and how individuals may apply for on-site technical assistance, respectively. Videoconferencing, distance learning training, and e-learning training opportunities are described in the next sections of this service plan. A presentation of the schedule of NIC/OJJDP training programs at the NIC training center in Longmont, Colorado, and elsewhere, from June 1, 2002, to May 31, 2003, precedes a description of NIC/OJJDP training partnership programs. A series of application forms to apply for these training programs completes this service plan.
