THIS ARTICLE TAKES A LOOK AT HOW A TRANSACTIONAL ANALYSIS PROGRAM CAN HELP PERSONS CONVICTED OF DRUNK DRIVING.
Abstract
TRANSACTIONAL ANALYSIS(TA) ATTEMPTS TO CREATE SITUATIONS CHARACTERIZED BY AN EGALITARIAN RATHER THAN AUTHORITARIAN ATMOSPHERE TO PROMOTE REHABILITATION. ITS OBJECTIVE IS NOT TO PERSUADE CLIENTS TO BEHAVE IN A SOCIALLY RESPONSIBLE MANNER, BUT RATHER TO INCREASE THEIR SELF-BELIEFS SO THAT THEY CAN BEHAVE IN A PERSONALLY RESPONSIBLE MANNER. UNDER THE ALCOHOL SAFETY PROGRAM, THE CLIENTS REFLECTED A TREND AWAY FROM EARLIER NEGATIVELY MANIPULATIVE AND JUDGMENTAL BEHAVIOR. ALTHOUGH, THE AUTHOR POINTS OUT, MIRACLE CURES OF COMPLEX HABITS LIKE DRUNKEN DRIVING CANNOT BE ACHIEVED IN A SHORT-TERM PERIOD, THE PROGRAM REFLECTED NO DIFFERENCE IN THE RATE OF RECIDIVISM BETWEEN THE TA APPROACH AND OTHERS... .BDS
