Abstract
This fall 2012 issue of Translational Criminology is published by the George Mason University Center for Evidence-Based Crime Policy (CEBCP). Along with a brief overview detailing current research projects and events produced by the Center, the magazine contains seven primary articles dealing with evidence-based policy and policing. The first article "Translational Criminology" discusses the idea behind translational criminology, while the second article "Implementing Procedurally Just Approaches to Policing One Breath at a Time" examines the results of a University of Queensland study aimed at testing the impact of police use of the principles of procedural justice during routine encounters with citizens. The third article "The Campbell Collaboration and Evidence-Based Crime Prevention" discusses the role of the Campbell Collaboration in the translational chain between research and practice. The fourth article "Adapting to Challenges and Change" discusses the need for police departments to change and more actively accept the benefits of using evidence-based policing methods. The fifth article "Fostering Knowledge Exchange through Collaboration and Participation: The Edinburgh Executive Sessions" discusses the use of the Edinburgh Executive Sessions infrastructure to produce "academically rigorous and operationally sound papers that will have the potential to inform, influence, and challenge the next generation of police leaders." The sixth article "Incorporating Research into Daily Police Practices: The Matrix Demonstration Project" highlights the Evidence-Based Policing Matrix for incorporating research results into daily police practices, while the seventh section "An Eye on the Future" highlights the work of two graduate students who work at the CEBCP. The last section of the magazine contains a listing of CEBCP publications and a call for nominations for the Center's Evidence-Based Policing Hall of Fame.
