Abstract
This summer 2011 issue of Translational Criminology is the first issue of the magazine published by the George Mason University Center for Evidence-Based Crime Policy (CEBCP). Along with a brief overview detailing the work of the Center, the magazine contains six primary articles dealing with evidence-based policy and policing. The first article, "Eight Lessons about Evidence-Based Crime Policy" discusses eight lessons about evidence-based crime policy, while the second article, "The Challenges of Hot Spots Policing" examines the challenges of hot spots policing. The third article, "Partnerships in Evidence-Based Policing" discusses the use of partnerships in evidence-based policing, using the partnership between the City of Seattle and the CEBCP as an example of this type of policing. The fourth article, "The Evidence for Place-Based Policing" discusses the research supporting place-based policing. The fifth article, "Leading by Evidence and Ethics" examines a new format for police leadership in the 21st century, while the sixth article, "With an Eye on the Future" highlights the work of three graduate students who work at the CEBCP. The last section of the magazine contains a listing of CEBCP publications.
