A GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF HOW INFORMATION ON LEGAL NORMS IS PRODUCED AND TRANSMITTED IN FINNISH SOCIETY IS PRESENTED.
Abstract
SOURCES OF INFORMATION ON LEGAL NORMS IN FINLAND INCLUDE GOVERNMENT AGENCIES, THE COURT SYSTEM, THE SCHOOL SYSTEM, THE MASS MEDIA, PUBLIC LIBRARIES, FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS, VOLUNTARY ASSOCIATIONS AND INTEREST GROUPS, ADULT EDUCATION PROGRAMS, RELATIVES, FRIENDS, AND COLLEAGUES. ORGANIZATIONS THAT PROVIDE INFORMATION ON LEGAL NORMS MAY BE CATEGORIZED ACCORDING TO THE DEGREE TO WHICH INFORMATION IS FILTERED (THE TYPE OF INFORMATION OBTAINED, HOW IT IS PROCESSED AND TRANSMITTED), THE AUDIENCE TO WHICH THE TRANSMISSION OF INFORMATION IS DIRECTED, AND HOW THE TRANSMISSION IS FINANCED. ALL TRANSMISSION OF INFORMATION ON LEGAL NORMS IS IN ACCORDANCE WITH A NORMATIVE CONSTRUCTION, WHICH REFLECTS SOCIETY'S GOALS. ESPECIALLY IN COMMUNITY MATTERS, GOAL SETTINGS ALWAYS INVOLVES THE INCORPORATION OF VALUES (WHICH CAN ALSO BE CALLED STRATEGIES). THUS, THE NATURE OF THE TRANSMISSION OF INFORMATION ON LEGAL NORMS IN FINLAND CAN BE BROKEN DOWN INTO STRATEGIES BASED ON THE PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE TRANSMISSION: PUBLICITY PUBLIC INFORMATION, CONSUMER ASSISTANCE, OR COMMUNICATION. A LIST OF REFERENCES IS INCLUDED. -- IN FINNISH, WITH AN ENGLISH SUMMARY.
