A DESCRIPTION OF THE ACTIVITIES, PLANS, AND RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA ASSOCIATION OF GOVERNMENTS (SCAG) CRIMINAL JUSTICE/TRANSPORTATION TECHNICAL TASK FORCE.
Abstract
THE TASK FORCE WAS DESIGNED TO PREPARE A PRELIMINARY REPORT ADDRESSING THE SECURITY AND SAFETY NEEDS OF A PROPOSED RAPID TRANSIT SYSTEM FOR SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA. THAT RAPID TRANSIT SYSTEM PLAN IS BRIEFLY DESCRIBED. AN EXAMINATION OF THE ACTIVITIES OF THE TASK FORCE IS THEN PRESENTED. A TRANSIT SECURITY AND SAFETY STUDY WAS UNDERTAKEN WHICH INVOLVED A SURVEY OF MAJOR TRANSPORTATION SYSTEMS, A SURVEY OF LOCAL JURISDICTIONS DIRECTLY AFFECTED BY THE PROPOSED RAPID TRANSIT SYSTEM, AND THE IDENTIFICATION OF GENERAL CONCEPTS AND ISSUES PERTAINING TO TRANSIT SECURITY AND SAFETY. THE SECURITY CONSIDERATIONS AND ALTERNATIVE FORMS OF PROVIDING POLICE SERVICES WHICH WERE DETERMINED BY THE TASK FORCE ARE LISTED IN THIS ARTICLE. THE MAJOR SECURITY AND SAFETY ELEMENTS DETERMINED BY THE TASK FORCE ARE ALSO LISTED. FINALLY, RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE TASK FORCE ARE PRESENTED.
