Abstract
Theories relating to an understanding of sexual violence have greatly developed over recent years. The challenge for sexual violence treatment is to apply the theories of sexual violence in helpful ways which helps to understand, formulate, and manage an individual's treatment needs. Models of rehabilitation, such as the Good Lives Model, have been invaluable in forging the link between theory and practice, offering some clear consideration for maximizing engagement with clients. Models such as this one have been influential in reminding professionals as to the scientific theories of rehabilitation. This includes offender rehabilitation, drawing from a wide range of established approaches from anthropology to sociology. This chapter aimed to portray the key factors with regard to human motivation, as well as strategies for working with the numerous barriers presented. References
