Abstract
The guidelines focus on the treatment of late adolescents or adults for whom some period of time has elapsed since the rape and is based on findings of typical clients who were victimized 2 years or more previously and seen by clinicians. Individual sections provide an overview of empirical findings on patterns of reactions following rape, the factors that affect the patterns of adjustment, techniques for crisis intervention, and assessment techniques. Chapters on treatment are structured around problem areas that are common consequences of rape: anxiety problems, depression, and sexual problems. A final chapter covers special treatment issues, adjustment reactions of partners, and issues related to male victims. Index, 198 references, and appended interview instrument
