Abstract
THE AUTHOR STATES THAT AN OVERHAUL OF THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM WOULD HAVE A MUCH GREATER IMPACT ON CRIME REDUCTION THAN THE HARD-LINE APPROACH TO SENTENCING AND IMPRISONMENT ADVOCATED BY MANY POLITICIANS AND SPECIAL INTEREST GROUPS.
