Abstract
This paper describes an efficient and reliable two-dimensional thin layer chromatographic technique for the separation and identification of cannabinoids present in the resin of cannabis. A total of 47 different cannabinoids were successfully separated, and of these, five major cannabis ingredients were identified. These are cannabinol, cannabidiol, cannabichromene, trans-delta-8-tetrahydrocannabinol, and delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol. The chromogenic reagent used was the spray of 0.1 per cent solution of Fast blue salt B in 45 per cent ethanol. 1 table, 12 references. (Author abstract modified)
