THE TEXT PRESENTS AN IDENTIFICATION SYSTEM FOR TYPEWRITER COMPARISON AND METHODS FOR DATA PREPARATION AND PRESENTATION IN COURT.
Abstract
THE METHOD USED IN THE SCIENTIFIC ANALYSIS IS BASED ON THE I.S.Q.D. PRINCIPLES APPLICABLE TO HANDWRITING IDENTIFICATION. TYPEWRITING IS BROKEN DOWN INTO TWO BASIC STROKES - THE STRAIGHT STROKE (BAR) AND THE CURVE. ONLY THESE TWO STROKES ARE ANLYZED IN WHATEVER COMBINATION THEY OCCUR TO FORM LETTERS, NUMBERS AND OTHER CHARACTERS. THIS ENTAILS TWELVE POINTS OF COMPARISON, AS IN HANDWRITING AND FINGERPRINT IDENTIFICATION. IT PLACES TYPEWRITING IDENTIFICATION ON THE SAME LABORATORY BASIS. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT MODIFIED)
