THIS MANUAL IS DESIGNED FOR USE BY LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES DURING THE CONDUCT OF TRAINING IN CONNECTION WITH THE UNIFORM ALCOHOLISM AND INTOXICATION TREATMENT ACT.
Abstract
THE SUGGESTED TRAINING PROGRAM COMPRISES SIX HOURS OF INSTRUCTION, WHICH ADDRESS THE SIX MAJOR TOPICAL AREAS COVERED IN A COMPANION VOLUME, THE UNIFORM ALCOHOLISM AND INTOXICATION TREATMENT ACT - LAW ENFORCEMENT GUIDELINES. THE MANUAL IS DIVIDED INTO SEVEN SECTIONS - A COURSE OUTLINE, THE NATURE OF ALCOHOL AND ALCOHOLISM, DECRIMINALIZATION AND THE UNIFORM ACT, THE POLICE AND THE TREATMENT PROGRAM, THE POLICE ROLE, IMPLEMENTATION PLANNING AND TRAINING CONSIDERATIONS, AND CONSIDERATIONS CONCERNING THE HANDLING OF INTOXICATED OR INCAPACITATED PERSONS.
