Abstract
The introductory section provides an overview of Pennsylvania's Uniform Crime Reporting Program and discusses the classification of offenses and the calculation of rates. Following a general summary of Pennsylvania crime data for 1982, data are provided on violent crime and property crime in general. Data are then broken down by the offenses of murder and nonnegligent manslaughter, forcible rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, larceny-theft, motor vehicle theft, and arson. Statistics on Part II offenses cover vandalism, drunkenness, disorderly conduct, liquor law violations, driving under the influence, and drug abuse violations. Data are also provided on the persons charged and law enforcement employees, including deaths and assaults on officers. Appendixes contain the tables and data on Part I and Part II offenses and clearances by jurisdiction within each county.
