This data set presents information on the numbers of persons employed in law enforcement agencies and the numbers of officers who were killed or assaulted while acting in the line of duty during 1979, 1981, 1982, and 1983.
Abstract
The information came from two reporting forms of the Uniform Crime Reporting program: the annual 'Law Enforcement Employees Report' and the monthly 'Law Enforcement Officers Killed or Assaulted' report. Each year's file contains more than 16,000 cases. This manual describes the variables in the data set and gives the coding information for each variable.
