Abstract
THE CONFERENCE PARTICIPANTS DISCUSSED THE FOLLOWING TOPICS- SOCIAL DEFENSE POLICIES IN RELATIONSHIP TO DEVELOPMENT PLANNING, PUBLIC PARTICIPATION IN THE PREVENTION AND CONTROL OF CRIME AND DELINQUENCY, THE UNITED NATIONS STANDARD MINIMUM RULES FOR THE TREATMENT OF PRISONERS, AND THE ORGANIZATION OF RESEARCH FOR POLICY DEVELOPMENT IN SOCIAL DEFENSE. SEVERAL OF THE IDEAS DEVELOPED DURING THE COURSE OF THE CONGRESS WERE RECOMMENDED TO THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY AND INDIVIDUAL NATIONS FOR POSSIBLE ADOPTION.
