Abstract
UNICRI advocates action-oriented research to analyze and formulate crime prevention policies and programs. The specific objective of UNICRI is to formulate and implement improved crime prevention policies. This is accomplished through research, training, and field activities and through the collection, exchange, and dissemination of information. Specific research activities of UNICRI are described that focus on criminology in developing countries, child abuse, alternatives to imprisonment, anticorruption strategies, crime victims, probation systems and services, environmental crime, drug law enforcement, and alternative policing styles. Training courses and seminars offered by UNICRI are noted, along with project development activities and information services. A list of available UNICRI publications is included.
