PRESENTS THE OPERATIONS, TRAINING, POLICE-STUDENT RELATIONS PROGRAM AND EFFECTIVENESS OF THE UNIVERSITY POLICE.
Abstract
EFFORTS ARE MADE TO INVOLVE THE POLICE PERSONNEL IN SERVICES THAT RELATE TO THE UNIQUE ACTIVITIES OF EACH SCHOOL. PROGRAMS INCLUDE A BASIC EMERGENCY FIRST AID COURSE TO DENTAL HYGIENE STUDENTS, COOPERATION WITH LOCAL SHERIFFS TO PATROL CAMPUS AREAS, FOOT-BEAT PATROLS, ESTABLISHMENT OF SELF-DEFENSE COURSES FOR WOMEN, THEFT PREVENTION PROGRAMS, AND CAMPUS HORSE PATROLS, A PROGRAM OF POLICE APPRENTICES AND COMMUNITY SERVICE OFFICERS GIVES STUDENTS AN OPPORTUNITY TO WORK WITH CAMPUS POLICE. ALL CAMPUS POLICE OFFICERS MUST PASS THE SAME SELECTION STANDARDS AS OTHER LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS IN THE CITIES AND COUNTIES. THE TRAINING CURRICULUM INCLUDES CRIMINAL LAW, EVIDENCE, COMMUNITY RELATIONS, AND ROLE PLAYING.
