The article describes the details of uncovering the remains of two murder victims whose bodies had been disposed of in unusual ways and the forensic procedures that contributed to the solution of these cases.
Abstract
In the first case, decomposing human remains were found in a cesspool. A bullet had lodged in a lump of fatty tissue and two small holes were found in the bones of the rib cage. From these, it was possible to determine the line of the gunshot within the body and the cause of death. The identity of the person could be proved by an odontological examination. In the second case, the nude body of a prostitute missing for 2 years was found concealed in a deep-freezer that was still working. The corpse was well-preserved and it was evident that the victim had been killed by a gunshot in the neck. The bullet was still in the corpse, and thus it was possible to prove the identity of the weapon as well as the murderer. Photographs and 18 references are provided.
