Abstract
THE OBJECTIVES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE DIFFERENT SECTIONS OF THE POLICE DEPARTMENT (ADMINISTRATIVE, PATROL, RECORDS, ETC.) ARE DISCUSSED. SEVERAL PROBLEM AREAS SUCH AS COMMUNICATIONS, DISPATCHING, PATROL, INVESTIGATION, ARRESTS, TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS, AND PARKING TAGS ARE CITED. FOR EACH OF THESE AREAS NUMEROUS SYSTEM PROPOSALS FOR THE POLICE DEPARTMENT ARE PRESENTED. THIRTY-FOUR APPLICATION PROGRAMS REQUIRED IN THE OPERATION OF THE POLICE DEPARTMENT ARE DESCRIBED, FOLLOWED BY DESCRIPTIONS OF THE REQUIRED DATA BASE. THIS DOCUMENT IS THE TWELFTH IN A SERIES OF 32 VOLUMES ISSUED BY THE CITY OF NEW HAVEN IN AN EFFORT TO IMPROVE GOVERNMENT OPERATIONS.
