This handbook describes procedures for collecting urine specimens in accordance with the Mandatory Guidelines for Federal Workplace Drug Testing Programs.
Abstract
The manual starts by identifying responsibilities of urine specimen collectors and then provides details on collection sites, collection supplies, the use of custody and control forms, and donor identification. Steps in a typical urine collection procedure are outlined. Guidance is also offered on the collection of blind samples, documentation errors, regulated and non-regulated employers, "shy bladder" collection, direct observed urine collection, and potential problems. Appendixes include the Federal Custody and Control Form and a sample memorandum for the record.
