The dental needs of inmates in correctional institutions are often unmet.
Abstract
Enumerated are the advantages in using dental, dental hygiene and dental assisting students for the correctional facility, the teaching institution, and the students. Successful intramural programs reported in the literature are compared. Discussed are nine considerations which should be addressed before drafting a proposal for an extramural program with a teaching institution. In addition, several recommendations are made for a successful clinical program in a correctional environment. (Publisher abstract)
