SIX RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF RECREATION PROGRAMS AND COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT ARE OUTLINED, COVERING SUCH ISSUES AS VOLUNTEERS, PUBLIC INFORMATION, AND USE OF RECREATION TO PREVENT DELINQUENCY.
Abstract
THIS PAMPHLET IS ONE IN A SERIES OF REPORTS OF THE UTAH COUNCIL ON CRIMINAL JUSTICE ADMINISTRATION. THE STANDARDS AND RECOMMENDATIONS CONTAINED IN THESE REPORTS ARE BASED LARGELY ON THE WORK OF THE NATIONAL ADVISORY COMMISSION ON CRIMINAL JUSTICE STANDARDS AND GOALS. RECOMMENDATIONS ARE PROVIDED ON SUCH AREAS AS RECRUITMENT OF CITIZENS FOR VOLUNTEER WORK IN CRIMINAL JUSTICE; COMMUNITY EDUCATION ON THE CRIME PROBLEM; USE OF BUILDINGS FOR COMMUNITY PROGRAMS; COMMUNITY ORGANIZATION PARTICIPATION IN THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM; AND THE NEED FOR RECREATION AND CHARACTER BUILDING ORGANIZATIONS TO BE RECOGNIZED AS INTEGRAL PARTS OF DELINQUENCY PREVENTION.
