Abstract
THIS PAMPHLET IS ONE OF A SERIES OF REPORTS OF THE UTAH COUNCIL ON CRIMINAL JUSTICE ADMINISTRATION. THE STANDARDS AND RECOMMENDATIONS CONTAINED IN THESE REPORTS ARE BASED LRGELY ON THE WORK OF THE NATIONAL ADVISORY COMMISSION ON CRIMINAL JUSTICE STANDARDS AND GOALS. RECOMMENDATIONS ARE PROVIDED ON SUCH TREATMENT APPROACHES AS MULTI-MODALITY SYSTEMS, CRISIS INTERVENTION, METHADONE MAINTENANCE, THERAPEUTIC COMMUNITIES, AND RESIDENTIAL PROGRAMS. ALSO INCLUDED ARE RECOMMENDATIONS ON VOLUNTARY COURT REFERRAL OF ADDICTS AND ALCOHOLICS, TRAINING OF TREATMENT PERSONNEL AND ALCOHOL AND DRUG ABUSE PREVENTION PROGRAMMING. ESTABLISHMENT OF STATE AND LOCAL ALCOHOL AND DRUG ABUSE TREATMENT AND PREVENTION COORDINATING AGENCIES IS SUGGESTED, AND THE STATE AND LOCAL RELATIONSHIP TO AND COOPERATION WITH FEDERAL DRUG ABUSE EFFORTS ARE DISCUSSED. FOR EACH RECOMMENDATION, THE STATUS OF UTAH WITH RESPECT TO THE RECOMMENDATION AND METHODS OF IMPLEMENTATION ARE EXAMINED. OTHER PAMPHLETS IN THIS SERIES ARE NCJ-40697 THROUGH 40700....DMC
