SEVEN STANDARDS FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF COURT COMMUNITY RELATIONS IN UTAH, COVERING SUCH ISSUES AS PLANNING, INFORMATION PROCEDURES, AND WITNESSES.
Abstract
THIS PAMPHLET IS ONE OF A SERIES OF REPORTS OF THE UTAH COUNCIL ON CRIMINAL JUSTICE ADMINISTRATION. THE STANDARDS AND RECOMMENDATIONS CONTAINED IN THESE REPORTS ARE BASED LARGELY ON THE WORK OF THE NATIONAL ADVISORY COMMISSION ON CRIMINAL JUSTICE STANDARDS AND GOALS. STANDARDS ARE PROVIDED ON SUCH AREAS AS PROVISION OF ADEQUATE COURTHOUSE FACILITIES; DISSEMINATION OF PUBLIC INFORMATION ON COURT PROCESSES; THE ROLE OF THE COURT, THE NEWS MEDIA, AND THE BAR IN EDUCATING THE PUBLIC ABOUT COURT FUNCTIONS; AND THE INVOLVEMENT OF JUDGES AND COURT PERSONNEL IN CRIMINAL JUSTICE PLANNING. ALSO INCLUDED ARE STANDARDS ON THE USE OF WITNESSES, COMPENSATION OF WITNESSES, AND HIRING OF COURT PERSONNEL. FOR EACH STANDARD, THE STATUS OF UTAH WITH RESPECT TO THE STANDARD AND THE METHODS OF IMPLEMENTING THE STANDARD ARE DISCUSSED. SEE ALSO NCJ-40717....DMC
