THIS PAPER DESCRIBES THE RESULTS OF AN EMPIRICAL VALIDATION OF THE PATROL CAR SIMULATION MODEL THAT WAS DEVELOPED BY THE NEW YORK CITY RAND INSTITUTE FOR THE NEW YORK CITY POLICE DEPARTMENT.
Abstract
IN ORDER TO DEMONSTRATE TO THE DEPARTMENT THAT THE SIMULATION WAS AN ACCURATE DESCRIPTION OF ITS FIELD OPERATIONS, AND COULD BE USED FOR ANALYZING POLICY DECISIONS, A VALIDATION EXPERIMENT WAS CONDUCTED. FIELD OBSERVATIONS WERE MADE TO GATHER DATA ON ACTUAL EVENT SEQUENCES WHICH WERE THEN COMPARED WITH SIMULATION EVENT SEQUENCES. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT)
