This article discusses the attribute of trust in business.
Abstract
Trust is a concept that is touted by business as essential; a stalwart foundation for business ethics and integrity, reputed to build consumer confidence. But is that really so? By examining case histories of fraud and corruption, a pattern emerges that supports the idea that most businesses and businesspeople espouse trust as a valued concept, but when economic reality or other interests kick in, it may be that betrayal is just as strong a driver as is trust or trustworthiness.
