HURTING OTHER PEOPLE BY SHOWING A LACK OF CONSIDERATION FOR THEIR FEELINGS IS THE TOPIC OF THIS FILMSTRIP WITH AUDIOCASSETTE DIRECTED AT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENTS.
Abstract
A FAMILY OF FOUR IS HAVING A PICNIC AND GET INTO A DISCUSSION OF THE SERIOUSNESS OF HURTING OTHER PEOPLE'S FEELINGS. THEY TALK ABOUT THE FAILURE TO LOOK AT SITUATIONS FROM OTHER PEOPLE'S POINT OF VIEW USING SEVERAL SPECIFIC EXAMPLES: CUTTING INTO A WAITING LINE, BEING DISRUPTIVE IN THE MOVIES, BEING CARELESS WITH SOMEONE ELSE'S PROPERTY, BEING MEAN TO A YOUNGER SIBLING, AND DISREGARDING THE FEELINGS OF A FRIEND. THESE BEHAVIORS ARE DISCUSSED AS SIGNIFICANT BEAUSE THEY ARE UNKIND, DEPRIVE OTHER PERSONS OF THEIR RIGHTFUL BENEFITS, ADVERSELY AFFECT THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN TWO PEOPLE, AND MAKE OTHERS SUFFER NEEDLESSLY. CHILDREN ARE REMINDED THAT THEY WOULD WANT TO BE TREATED IN A CONSIDERATE MANNER AND THIS OBLIGATES THEM TO TREAT OTHERS WITH RESPECT. (DAG)
