AN ANALYSIS OF CRIME FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF THE VICTIM'S RELATIONSHIP TO BOTH THE CRIME AND THE PERPETRATOR OF THE CRIME.
Abstract
THIS BOOK PRESENTS AN OVERVIEW OF THE MOST IMPORTANT RELEVANT ISSUES IN VICTIMOLOGY. THE AUTHOR DISCUSSES THE PREDISPOSITION OF SOME INDIVIDUALS TO BECOME VICTIMS OF CRIME AND REVIEWS A NUMBER OF STUDIES OF THIS PHENOMENON. HE ALSO PROPOSES A TYPOLOGY OF VICTIMS AND OF THEIR RELATIONSHIPS WITH THE PERPETRATOR OF THE OFFENSE. A NUMBER OF ASPECTS OF VICTIMOLOGY ARE DISCUSSED REGARDING SEXUAL ATTACKS, ON BOTH CHILDREN AND ADULTS, AND THE RESULTING PSYCHOLOGICAL DAMAGE. THE RELATIONSHIP OF THE CRIMINAL AND THE VICTIM IS ANALYZED IN A CYBERNETIC FRAMEWORK AS AN OPEN SYSTEM.
