This Department of Defense (DoD) directive contains policies on and identifies responsibilities related to victims and witnesses of crimes committed in violation of the Uniform Code of Military Justice.
Abstract
The directive stipulates that the role of crime victims and witnesses should be enhanced and protected by the criminal justice process and that government officials and employees engaged in the detection, investigation, and prosecution of crimes should ensure that victims are accorded their rights. The directive defines terms associated with victim and witness assistance, identifies responsibilities of DoD officials, and outlines victim and witness policies and procedures. Forms for obtaining information needed by crime victims and witnesses are included.
