Abstract
THE AUTHOR DRAWS UPON RESEARCH DATA FROM MANY FOREIGN COUNTRIES, INCLUDING EUROPEAN NATIONS, THE U.S.A., THE U.S.S.R., JAPAN, AND AUSTRALIA. CHAPTERS DISCUSS CONCEPTS, TERMINOLOGY, AND HISTORY, AS WELL AS SUCH TOPICS AS VICTIM SELECTION FACTORS, VICTIM TYPOLOGY, VICTIM 'PRONENESS,' AND FEAR OF CRIME. THE PROCESS OF BECOMING A VICTIM, INCLUDING INFORMATION ON SITUATIONS WHICH GIVE RISE TO VICTIMIZATION, THE VICTIM-PERPETRATOR RELATIONSHIP, AND THE PERPETRATOR'S SUBJECTIVE MOTIVES, IS PRESENTED IN ANOTHER CHAPTER. THE TEXT ALSO EXAMINES PSYCHOLOGICAL DAMAGE TO VICTIMS (PARTICULARLY IN RAPE CASES), REPARATION TO VICTIMS, CRIME PREVENTION AND SOLVING, CRIMINAL LAW, AND CRIMINAL PROCEDURE.
