In the process of realizing the importance of victimology in the past few years in India, difficulties have been experienced in identifying the real victims, in evaluating victim participation in a particular crime, and in assessing victim compensation.
Abstract
These issues have been studied from various perspectives, and it has been found that forensic science can solve them to a great extent. Those who suffer from injury to the body or suffer property damage are considered victims. When these injuries and damages are caused by unlawful acts, the State is responsible for investigating. Forensic science plays a key role in detecting offenders and in assessing the question of victim participation in the crime. Forensic science can determine the physical injury caused by a firearm or any other weapon and can thus assist in decisions regarding victim compensation. Forensic science is also useful in paternity determination, the prescription of wrong medication, and the ability of an individual to stand trial. 3 references
